Private Therapeutic Yoga
How does Private Therapeutic Yoga work?
During a typical session we utilize static yoga postures, yoga assisted props and deep breathing along with an intense inner focus to access and release trapped energy. The notion is to bring you to your "edge," a place where you feel strong sensation but can still breath and relax with no pain.
It is believed in yoga that this is where we can access the greatest concentration of blocked energy (mental/physical/emotional), releasing chronically held patterns and provide long-lasting health benefits & results.
What are some of the health benefits?

- Mental/Emotional/Physical releases

- Increased metabolism &/or energy
How is this different than Private Yoga?
This modality of Private Therapeutic Yoga or Yoga Therapy: Amrit Method of Body Psychology, is different than private yoga that focuses on private instruction of yoga postures or poses, this method focuses on deep & therapeutic releases on a mental, physical and emotional level. The method involves working with a practitioner 1:1 to help facilitate the release of energy thru practitioner assisted poses, with yoga props & deep breathing.
Is it psychotherapy?
In Private Therapeutic Yoga, we holistically address mental & emotional challenges by accessing blocked energy held in the body, non-mentally. While this is not psychotherapy (or talk therapy), it is a powerful adjunct to psychotherapy or psychological/counseling services and can be a complimentary & alternative approach. In this approach, the body and its energy take a leading role in healing on all levels.
What happens after a session?
Since this is deep & therapeutic work, we encourage you to be gentle with yourself after a session. You may wish to go back to work and carry on with your life immediately but we strongly encourage you to take some time to journal, reflect and go inward so that you can truly get the most out of your sessions and integrate the work for long-lasting results.
What does it feel like?
The experience is unique to each individual and can range from gentle to intense depending on the person and/or challenges. Some people might feel as if they've had a
good stretch. Others may experience intense emotional releases, tears, anger, a surge of memories, spontaneous physical movements, or other types of releases.
Do I need yoga experience or to be in good shape?
No. You will be guided into poses/postures that are best suited for your situation. This is not a vigorous type of yoga. With the assistance of the practitioner, you will hold one or more poses for a period of time, or be guided thru various releasing techniques, to help access the blocked energy and release it.
